Xavier Martinez. Civil Engineer by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) (2001) and PhD in structural analysis by UPC (2008). Former project engineer at Pedelta, company specialized in the design of bridges and singular structures (2001-2004). University professor at UPC since 2009, researcher at CIMNE since 2004, and head of studies at the School of Nautical Studies since 2013. His research activity is developed in the field of numerical methods, continuum mechanics, constitutive models for material prediction, and analysis of composite materials and structures. He has collaborated in projects consisting in the numerical prediction of material failure of composite laminates due to fiber buckling and delamination, homogenization methods, fatigue of steel, inflatable structures, and reinforcement of concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymers. He is the author of 15 JCR papers and more than 20 papers in international conferences.
